Every once in a while we come across something full of old world charm that takes us back to our childhoods. It’s so easy to start reminiscing about “the good old days” when things were built to last. Back in the day, things were built to be respected and passed down from family member to family member.
During our weekly Realtor tour we saw this incredible doll house that truly brought back all the “feels” of childhood.
This was one of those old-school doll houses that as a labour of love would most likely have taken Dad or Grand Dad, or maybe the 2 of them together, years to complete. The entire structure was made of wood and it was so incredibly detailed that as a Realtor, I was completely blown away.
This 4 foot tall Home (because it was just so lovingly done, I can’t just call it a house) was so incredibly detailed that it took my breath away. Each of the 20 plus windows had glass in the windows and the detail above the window and the window frames were made of wood. Even the attic window, which was a lovely palladium window, had glass in it!
Looking through the curtains on the windows into the main floor, I could see that the dining room had a dining table fully set with cutlery, china & even glassware. The living room had a sofa and wing chairs, there were book cases and area rugs.
The second floor and third floor had beds with pillows & blankets and even teddy bears. The dressers and side tables were also decorated with vases and bowls and all the little things we all have in our homes. Even looking through the attic windows, there were tiny storage boxes!
I truly hope that the little princess for whom this carefully crafted work of art was created for 60+ years ago, enjoyed the beauty of this labour of love as much as I enjoyed admiring it.
